Free Reversible Hexagon Pattern: Crochet Coaster

Who doesn’t love a good hexagon motif? NO ONE HERE, right? Sometimes, when I play with yarn, MAGIC HAPPENS. That’s how this hexagon pattern came to be! I was playing around with my Curio #3 Thread from We Crochet and WHOOPS, awesomeness occurred. What I love MOST about this pattern is that it is REVERSIBLE and each side is completely UNIQUE. You’d never know from looking at one side what the other looks like. SUCH FUN!

The Blue Cohosh Hexagon Crochet Pattern

This pattern is intermediate level. While you can use the free pattern here on the blog, you should definitely check out the premium upgrade available on Ravelry and Etsy! The premium upgrade pattern has 8 pages and includes a photo tutorial that will help you get through the tricky parts of the color changes and round turns. In addition, the upgrade includes a diagram of the table mat, as well as instructions for joining and edging the mat. Finally, and most importantly for hardcore BLISS THIS fans, there is an EARRING MODIFCATION in the premium upgrade!

You know I can’t resist making everything into earrings! Aren’t they FABULOUS?

Pattern Notes

  1. All directions are written in US Crochet Terms.
  2. Similar #3 cotton threads or lace weight yarns may be substituted; please check gauge.
  3. Beginning ch-1 does NOT count as st.
  4. Beginning ch-2 plus 2-dc cluster counts as 3-dc cluster in st counts.
  5. PM throughout pattern means “place marker” in working loop to hold it while continuing with other color.
  6. Turn only when changing colors, as indicated in pattern.
  7. This motif is reversible. Decide RS/WS based on preference.
This is my favorite side of the tablemat, but the other side is my preference for the earrings!
