I developed my love of crochet at an early age, but I didn’t start designing patterns until I was in my early thirties! However, I didn’t actually begin writing any down until my early forties. I have always dreamed of being a writer and even majored in writing in college. I never dreamed that my passion would turn out to be writing crochet patterns. It sure is though, and I absolutely can’t stop!

Let me back up a little bit! I started crocheting when I was around 8 years old. My mom taught me the basics and how to read patterns. I got HOOKED when I was 11 though. My Grandma Edie taught me how to read doily charts and crochet with thread. Fast forward 20 years, and I was putting my doily skills to good use as I designed my first, second, third, and on up to 15th pair of earrings!

It’s not all hooks and yarns though! By day, my “side-gig” is as an English language instructor at a local university. I get international students prepared for the rigors of Western-style education expectations and studying in their second (or sometimes third) language. It’s a fun and rewarding job which was MORE fun and MORE rewarding when it was easier for international students to get here to the United States. Never fear, I’ll keep doing what I’m doing until we have no one left who wants to learn English! Or until I can retire and devote my life to crochet…whichever comes first!

Now, I spend my nights and weekends crocheting up a storm. The busier I am, the more ideas I get. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of ideas. I have at least 20 ideas that are in progress or sketched out or jotted down in my notebook. I hope that this blog will be your go-to for crocheted earrings! I can’t wait to see what you make, hear your stories and learn more about you!
