If you haven’t made crocheted skirts yet, you are missing out. If you’re scared to try crocheting garments, THIS is the type of garment to start with! Skirts are a breeze to crochet! Think of them as a miniature blanket that you seam together (in some cases).

I absolutely LOVE making and designing crocheted skirts. I want to introduce you to my first FIVE crochet skirt designs and encourage you to give them a TRY! My 6th design will be releasing this week, so stay tuned and scroll to the bottom of this post for your sneak peek!

Topaz Skirt

The Topaz Skirt was my very first written and published crochet design. I was inspired by some beautiful bell-sleeves on a cardigan. I thought, HMMMM, can I replicate that idea for a skirt? Yep, I could. I love the swish of this skirt. Made with 24/7 Cotton which is a light worsted weight yarn, this skirt is super flirty and fun! It’s sized from 18 months through any adult women’s size! My favorite part is that the women’s sizes have 4 lengths, petite, regular, tall, and extra tall.

C-2-Shining-C Skirt

I learned corner-2-corner crochet and was immediately hit with inspiration to create a skirt. I spent a few months with the idea percolating in my mind, but I wasn’t ready to sit down and WHIP it out. I wasn’t sure it would work the way it did in my mind either. BUT BOY, OH BOY! IT DOES!!! Using different sized c-2-c squares, this skirt grows diagonally until you have the length you want, and by using different sts, it shapes the waist and has a little ruffle at the bottom! It’s really fun! Designed with Comfy Cotton yarn (DK, 3 weight), it works up quickly and easily.

Beach Dreamin’ Skirt

Designed near the beginning of the pandemic, we were all dreaming of the freedom the end of it would bring. I hopefully titled this skirt, dreaming of the days we’d once again be able to go wherever we want whenever we want without restrictions. I’m still dreaming, but I do love this skirt! It’s perfect over leggings all year-round, but great as a swimsuit cover up if you do make it to the beach!

Joy Skirt

This skirt truly is a joy to me. I just LOVED creating this skirt that grows on the bias. Originally published on the Joy of Motion blog, this design was everything I hoped it would be. Stitches that you can’t see through (avoiding that, BUT WHAT IN THE WORLD DO I WEAR UNDER IT? question), an amazing diagonal line, perfect texture, and suitable for all body types. See photo of skinny mini daughter and super-hips me for proof!

Bliss Skirt

You may be thinking: WHAT KIND OF MANIAC MAKES CROCHETED SKIRTS OUT OF THREAD? Well, (ahem, raises hand), ME. I DO. And I’m telling you, it’s worth it. The skirt comes in 2 styles, the VERY full, children’s version, and the full adult version. However, the instructions walk you through adjusting and customizing either version. The kids’ version has some seriously awesome TWIRL-ability. You’ll need to check that baby out! Don’t you worry–you can twirl in the adult version too. I won’t prove it because that will just prove that I have no balance. HA!

The thread isn’t even that bad. It’s size 3 cotton crochet thread which is on par with a thick fingering or sport weight yarn. I love how this skirt looks and feels. It’s FUN to wear. And you can make it as short or long as you want. The pattern explains how to continue your increases for as long as you want. I love customizable patterns!

Coming Soon…The Paz Skirt

Continuing the theme of contentment, I’ve named the next skirt Paz which means Peace in Spanish. This skirt is the epitome of peace. The tranquil, short Tunisian-style rows really give the skirt a unique texture and a faux-pleated look. I absolutely love doing this stitch. Keep your eyes out for this pattern! You’ll be able to access the adult version for free this week on the Two Brothers Blankets blog. The child size pdf will be available for purchase at the same time.
