Once again, I’m a proud contributor to the 2024 Crochet Cancer Challenge with Sweet Potato 3. It’s hard to believe that this is my 5th year contributing. Sadly, cancer continues to affect my family–and I’m sure the same is true for many of you. Thank you so much for participating in the Crochet Cancer Challenge and making a difference in the lives of those who are in the battle!
About the Pilar Crochet Beanie
I named this beanie after a dear friend who is not battling cancer but has definitely been impacted by it, as have we all. Pilar is the type of friend everyone needs to have. She is fully invested in supporting her community and gives 100% to every relationship that she is in. For that reason, I chose to name this hat after Pilar.
The stitches in this beanie create strong vertical lines that represent the pillars of strength it takes to battle cancer. Whether you are currently amid the struggle, a survivor, or a support person, I hope that crocheting this beanie is a soothing experience. I pray that you will be a blessing to others and the people you make this beanie for will be blessed by the labor of love you have created.

Pilar Beanie Pattern Notes
This is an easy (level 2 skill) pattern that is created by crocheting a rectangle, seaming the side and cinching the top. This hat comes in three sizes. Information is given in the NOTES on how to create a smaller or larger beanie. I used 198 yards of worsted weight yarn to create the medium size. You can fold the brim of the beanie or wear it extended for a slouchy look.
Tester, Michelle, looks amazing in her Pilar Beanie!
