I love a good crochet pouch! The Take-Me-to-Market Pouch is a fun envelope bag with a button closure. Originally, I designed this to carry my reusable produce bags, hence the name, “Take-Me-to-Market Pouch.” Now, this pattern has been reworked, improved, and re-released! Take an afternoon to hook up this quick crochet pattern! It’s the perfect summer make as it’s small, easily portable, and won’t leave you melting into a puddle like bigger winter projects might!
Tons of possible uses for the crochet pouch!
- Pouch for reusable produce bags (The ORIGINAL purpose.)
- Cosmetic bag (I don’t know about you, but I always have a million lipsticks, balms, and glosses floating around my purse!)
- Clutch (It’s the perfect fit for a phone, credit card, lipstick, and keys!)
- Storage for crocheted earrings (You know I had to say that!)
- Tissue Pouch (This one is for us allergy sufferers!)
- DIY Findings Carry-All (Slip you favorite hook, tape measure, stitch markers and other DIY essentials in here and toss it in your crochet tote!)
- AND MORE! (I’m sure you can think of a few fantastic uses for this great crochet pouch!)

Making the Pouch
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own simple pouch:
- Comfy Color Mist (Worsted Weight, 4) 75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic Vermillion, 1 skein
- Yardage: approximately 100 yards
- G+, 4.5mm hook
- Needle
- 1- 7/8” to 1” button
- Sewing Thread
This pattern mainly utilizes half double crochet stitches. You will begin by creating the flap, then the body of the bag. Finally, you’ll join the sides and crochet around. This bag is worked in one solid piece without fastening off the yarn until the end. YAY for fewer ends to work in!
This crochet pouch pattern will also work well with the following yarns:
24/7 Cotton available at Lion Brand
Dishie available at We Crochet
Premier Home Cotton available at Mary Maxim
Sugar ‘N Cream available at Mary Maxim
