Crochet Garment: Quick Summer Vest Pattern to Make

I love summer. Well, I love the concept of summer. Lazy days, lounging by the lake, a gentle breeze…you get the picture. It’s not often picture-perfect around here, but that doesn’t mean I won’t find my spot, curl up with crochet, and hook the day away! This crochet vest pattern is the perfect companion to a lazy summer day. It works up quickly (I made the XL/2X size in less than a week while working full time and completing other smaller projects!).

This vest would make a great grab and go layering piece on a cooler summer day, a fantastic cover up for after a dip in the pool, or a staple wardrobe garment in a color that coordinates with your style!

The Glowing Embers Crochet Vest pattern is featured in the Designer’s Summer Picks Blog Hop, hosted by Itchin’ for Some Stitchin’, Hanjan Crochet, and Ned and Mimi! Read on to find out how to get this pattern as a free download on June 30!

About the Yarn

I used Comfy Color Mist (provided by We Crochet), which is a worsted weight (4) yarn made of 75% Pima Cotton and 25% Acrylic, in the colorway Vermillion on this version of my vest, and I LOVE it. it’s a really soft cotton blend to work with. If you’ve been looking for a new cotton blend to work with, this is a lovely choice. The Comfy Color Mist colorways include 14 different colors that are either bold, pastel or neutral. The colorways lend a special texture to the stitches.

The acrylic microfiber gives elasticity to the lightweight, long wearing, and machine washable yarn. It’s a good choice for warm weather projects of all kinds, and is especially recommended for children’s clothing and baby blankets. I also used this yarn for a quick work up of my Take-Me-to-Market-Pouch!
