  • All directions are written in US Crochet Terms.
  • Heart is worked bottom up.
  • Directions in brackets [ ] are to be worked the total number of times written in the pattern.
  • Gauge is not essential for this project, and finished size will depend on yarn and hooks chosen.
  • Odd numbered rows are WS; even numbered rows are RS.
  • Ch 2, dc in same st at the beginning of rows counts as 1 dcCL.
  • Ch 1 at beginning of rows/round does not count as a st.
  • Note that dc2tog is worked across 2 sts, and dcCL is worked into 1 st.

Heart Point

Ch 3.

Row 1: (WS) Working into the back bump, dc in the 3rd ch from hook (counts as dcCL), ch 2, dcCL in same st – 2 dcCL, 1 ch-2 sp.

Row 2: (RS) Ch 1, turn, sc, 2 sc in ch-2 sp, sc – 4 sc.

Row 3: Ch 2, turn, dc in same st (counts as dcCL throughout), [ch 2, dcCL] 3 times – 4 dcCl, 3 ch-2 sp.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc, [2 sc in ch-2 sp, sc] 3 times – 10 sc.

Row 5: Ch 2, turn, dc in same st, [ch 2, sk 1, dcCL] 2 times, ch 2, dcCL, [ch 2, sk 1, dcCL] 2 times – 6 dcCL, 5 ch-2 sp.

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc, [2 sc in ch-2 sp, sc] 5 times – 16 sc.

1st Lobe

Row 10a: Ch 1, turn, sc, [2 sc in ch-2 sp, sc] 3 times – 10 sc.

Attach yarn to Row 8 at marker on WS of heart. (Note: This is the same place that the last st of Row 9a was placed.)

Row 9b: Ch 2, dc in same st, [ch 2, sk 2, dcCl] 3 times– 4 dcCl, 3 ch-2 sp.

Row 10b: Ch 1, turn, sc, [2sc in ch-2 sp, sc] 3 times – 10 sc.

Row 11b: Ch 2, turn, dc in same st, sk 2, dcCl, ch 2, sk 2, dcCl, sk 2, dcCl – 4 dcCl, 1 ch-2 sp.

Row 12b: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, 2 sc in ch-2 sp, sc2tog – 2 sc2tog, 2 sc.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Blocking Instructions

Spray piece with Aleene’s Stiffen Quik Spray and pin in place to dry. Alternatively, you can spray with water. Use wax paper or plastic wrap to protect your blocking board if stiffening spray is used.

Assembly Instructions

For Ornament: Attach an ornament hanger or loop a piece of yarn/thread through the top of ornament to hang.

For Bunting: With yarn (hemp or jute), ch 25, attach yarn to each side of heart, ch 15, continue attaching hearts and chaining between until desired bunting length has been reached.

For Keychain: Open a jump ring to the side with your flat nosed pliers. Slip one stitch from the top or lobe of crocheted heart onto the open loop. Close the loop of the earring hooks to the side with the flat nosed pliers. Attach to key chain.

For Earrings: Open the loops on the earring hooks to the side with your flat nosed pliers. Slip one stitch from the top or lobe of crocheted heart onto the open loop. Close the loop of the earring hooks to the side with the flat nosed pliers.
