As we start the new year, I am resolving to be more intentional with my time. That means more time invested in the things that I have always loved. Reading was probably my first love, and I have definitely drifted away from it. I still devour books ravenously, but mostly via audio. I want to return to the passion I felt for holding a book in my hands and being captivated by the world I find within its pages. Therefore, a beautiful bookmark is just what I need to inspire a more bookish year ahead!

The Ventanitas Collection expands with this awesome accessory to mark you spot–if you can bear to put down your book, that is! In under 30 minutes, you can crochet this bookmark and maybe even a few extras if you’re like me and are committed to more than 1 book at a time! If you haven’t already seen the other Ventanitas patterns, you’ll find links to them at the end of this post! Be sure to scroll all the way down.
While this is the perfect item to quickly make for yourself, consider making these as gifts too. In 30 minutes or less, you can have a lovely handmade gift to accompany a store-bought book or journal. To date, I’ve ONLY made 16–and given away most of those. I will be making another one JUST FOR ME in my favorite color.

Tassel
- Cut a 10″ length of matching or contrasting thread. Set aside.
- Wrap thread around a 2″ piece of cardboard 20-25 times.
- Cut one end of the wrapped threads. (This is your tassel.)
- Tie a knot around the tassel with the ends of the 10″ length of thread.
- With another length of thread and needle, wrap tightly around the tassel, hiding the knotted ends. Hide the ends by weaving through the tassel and cut thread.
- Trim tassel ends.
- Attach tassel to center sc on short end of bookmark.

Tester Showcase

Kami brought her A-game as usual and gave great feedback. You’ll notice that she made this bookmark her own and added a sc edging all the way around the bookmark which makes it just a tad wider. You can adjust the pattern to your liking as well!
