amberblissthis Not long before the world went mad, my sweet sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a blow to us all. I mean, cancer has surely affected many of us. I have a long list of the people I know who are or have been affected by cancer: my grandma, my aunt, my dad, my dad’s best friend, my favorite grad school professor, my kids’ music teacher, and a number of my friends in the crochet community. And now, my husband’s little sister. A sweet woman with two little girls who deserve to grow up with their mother.
For several months, Magui has been traveling to Mexico City from her home in Southern Mexico to receive her treatments. It’s been an ordeal. It’s been expensive. It’s been trying.
I felt so helpless and useless. A country apart, with no way to physically help my family with their day to day needs, I started brainstorming what I could do to make a difference for Magui. Everyone knows I’ve got quite the CROCHET OBSESSION. So, it only makes sense to somehow incorporate crochet into my help. I felt led to do SOMETHING more than just send money. I needed to make some NOISE. I needed to get people involved. I needed to say, MAGUI, YOU’RE IMPORTANT TO US!
I decided to design an earring and sell the pattern with all the proceeds going to Magui. Then, I got REALLY crazy and decided to MAKE earrings to sell for Magui. THEN, a friend asked if I was going to offer kits for the patterns too. Well, so, here we are.

Here’s the part where I tell you what you can do to help! I realize that not everyone can drop $25, or $20 or even $3.50. It’s a crazy time, and I don’t expect everyone to be able to help out financially! Here’s exactly how you can be helpful!

So, to recap, I’m raising money to help my beautiful and wonderful sister-in-law, Magui who is battling cancer. Proceeds will help cover treatment, surgery and travel costs related to this battle.
