So, here’s the question. How do you turn THIS tiny earring (above) into THIS perfect coaster (below)?
I’m a big proponent of patterns that have multiple uses. A lot of my earring patterns work as coasters, garlands, ornaments, and more! It’s SO much easier than you might imagine.
Dariana’s Heart Earrings work up to approximately 1.5″ x 1.5″ when you use size 10 crochet thread and a 1.65 or 1.75mm hook. They are TINY! I know a lot of crocheters are intimidated by the tiny hooks and thread, so here’s the good news. You can use the same awesome pattern to make a VARIETY of crocheted items!
When worked with worsted weight (4) yarn and a 6.5mm hook, your coaster-sized heart is just over 4″ x 4″. Amazing, right?
Better yet, hold 3 strands of worsted weight (4) yarn, and use a 10 mm hook, and you have the perfect sized hot pad (trivet or potholder…whichever you prefer to call it!) at just about 8″ x 8″. Can you believe it?
Just follow the yarn and hook requirements for your desired size/item, and you’re set! You don’t have to change any of the directions. Just follow the pattern as written!
First, you’ll need the pattern. It’s available for purchase in both Ravelry and Etsy!
