A Two Minute Crochet Earring Project, PROMISE!
This crochet pattern is what I call a 2-minute pattern. It’s true. You can crochet a PAIR in just 2 minutes. I’m not even kidding. Don’t believe me? Give it a try. I bet you can do it FASTER than 2 minutes. There is ONE ROW in this pattern. You can hook this up with ANY thread or yarn weight (and appropriate hook, of course!). I chose to use WORSTED WEIGHT yarn because I wanted to match my Go and Glow Scarf (Obvs, you need this pattern too!).
The YARN
Darn Good Yarn sent me worsted weight Silk Roving Yarn in the colorway Phenomena. I LOVE IT. You all know how I feel about color. Give me ALL the color. This yarn has pink, purple, blue, a tad of yellow, a smidge of green, a dash of white. It’s really perfect and so much fun.
If you aren’t in the mood to try a new yarn, you can definitely do a STASH GRAB. Close your eyes and stick your hand in that stash. Whatever you pull out is the yarn you use. Give it a try!
Crochet Earring Materials
- Silk Roving Worsted Weight Yarn (Phenomena) 4-8 yards
- 3.5mm hook
- Needle for weaving in ends
- 4-8 mm jump rings (these are the ones I got on Amazon, and they are heavy duty which I like for combining with worsted weight yarn)
- 2 ear hooks (these are the hooks I use–also from Amazon)
I love the colors Jennifer used in her Go & Glow Earrings (shown above)!
Abbreviation & Stitch Key
ch(s) = chain
dc = double crochet
FAN = fan stitch
Puff = puff stitch
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
sl st = slip stitch
sp(s) = space(s)
st(s) = stitch(es)
tr = treble crochet
yo = yarn over
Amy made a beautiful pair of Go & Glow Earrings to match her scarf (shown above, see below for the scarf)!
Special Stitches
Puff = [yo, pull up a loop to height of dc] 2 times, yo, draw through 4 loops on hook, yo, draw through remaining 2 loops.
FAN = ([Puff, ch 2] 4 times, Puff) in magic circle.
Size
1.5” x 1”–of course you may end up with a different size depending on the thickness of your yarn and the tightness of your stitches. Don’t worry about gauge for this pattern. Just try to get your stitches uniform and tight enough to “hold” the shape of the earring.
The Easy, Free, Crochet Earring Pattern
Without FURTHER ADO, here’s what you need to do to make these SPEEDY earrings:
Directions
Make a Magic Circle. (This video shows you how to make a No-Fail magic circle even though you’ll be using different sts in the first row.)
Row 1: Ch 2, FAN, ch 2, join to magic circle, tighten magic circle.
Fasten off. Weave in ends. Block if desired.
Stiffen earrings (optional)
Place on wax paper on a flat surface or blocking mat. Spray both sides of earrings with stiffening spray. Adjust shape (pin to block if desired). Wait for earrings to dry. (I didn’t block or stiffen mine!)
Assembly
Open the jump ring to the side with your flat nosed pliers. Slip ring into magic circle and add one more jump ring; close jump ring. Open the ear hook loop to the side with flat nosed pliers, slide one jump ring in, close the ear-wire loop with the flat nosed pliers.
Your earrings are done! Enjoy!
Can you believe it? I bet that it took you longer to read this blog post than it takes you to make 5 pairs of these earrings. I’d LOVE to see what you make. If you liked this pattern, you may want to check out the Go and Glow Scarf, the Glowing Embers Earrings (another easy free crochet earring pattern here on the blog), or the Glowing Embers Vest. The Go and Glow stitch pattern is a variation of the flame stitch which I used in both of the Glowing Embers patterns!
