Crochet Star Earrings: Three Stunning Ornaments for Your Holiday Celebrations

You may recognize these Bliss This Star Earrings from a few years ago! These crochet earring stars were featured in 30 Days of Cozy, hosted by Pam of Made with a Twist, also known as The Crochetpreneur! Well, this year she’s hosting The Best of 30 Days of Cozy, and I’m honored that the Star Earrings have made the cut!

Star Inspiration

When I set out to design these earrings, I put in mind the STAR that the wise men followed to find Jesus. I imagined and sketched all the ways this star could have been perceived by the wise men, and, finally, settled on my 3 favorite to try to recreate in crochet. The star is probably my most favorite symbol of Christmas. We use it at the tops of our trees and in twinkling lights surrounding our houses. It’s such an apt symbol of the Light of the World!

And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

Matthew 2:9-10

Not Just Earrings!

If you know ANYTHING about me by now, it’s that EARRINGS are my THING! I love designing earrings and wearing them. There’s just something about a project that can be created and completed in an afternoon! The sense of accomplishment is empowering! Don’t get me wrong; I love big projects too, but small projects keep me going!

However, earrings are not the ONLY things you can create with these star patterns! You can easily create ornaments, embellishments, key chains, pendants, garlands, and more!

Pattern Notes

All directions are written in US Crochet Terms.

Gauge is not essential for this project, but tight stitches will result in an earring that holds its shape better.

When crocheting into your magic circle, make sure you are crocheting over two strands of thread: the circle and the tail. Keep your tail long enough to adjust (pull tight) the magic circle at the end.

You may find this VIDEO helpful for creating your magic circle.

Instructions in brackets [ ] are to be repeated the total number of times indicated.

Stitch instructions in parentheses ( ) are to be worked into the indicated space or stitch.

When slip stitching to complete the crochet earring, insert your hook in the stitch from back to front, pull the loop of your last stitch through to the back, and complete your slip stitch on the back side of the earring.

This pattern can be worked in any size crochet thread and appropriate hook. Experiment with different size thread/yarn and hooks to achieve smaller or larger stars.
